WARNING ABOUT FLASH FLOODS ISSUED IN 3 Counties – NBC Bay area

A warning about flooding of flash was in effect Thursday morning for Santa Clara, San Mateo and Santa Cruz counties, according to the National Weather Service.

Flash flooding already occurred and the warning will remain in effect until 1 p.m. 9:15, said NWS.

Around 1 p.m. 05.20 indicated Doppler -Radar heavy rain in Ben Lomond – approx. 1 to 3 inch rain had fallen in the area, with additional rainfall of up to 3 inches possible.

Meteorologist Kari Hall talks about the effect of the atmospheric river and the improved conditions for the weekend in the microclimate forecast.

The effect includes flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and undergrades as well as other poor drainage and low -lying areas, says Vejrervice.

Some places that will experience flooding of flash include Palo Alto, Santa Cruz, Cupertino, Saratoga, Los Gatos, Scotts Valley, Los Altos Hills, Woodside, Boulder Creek, Ben Lomond, Felton, Portola Valley, Monte Sereno and Lexington Hills.
