Alex Bregman changes all for Red Sox: Dan Shaaughnessy

Does anyone have a recording of the late John Kiley playing “Hallelujah Chorus” at the Fenway Park organ?

Oh, happy day! Red Sox owner John Henry (who also owns the globe) has again paid large bucks for the best available right -wing hits on the market.

Shortly after the news about the deal broke late Wednesday, Henry’s wife, Linda Henry, who is Globe’s CEO, released a photo on Instagram by Red Sox owner who relaxed a fireplace and smokes a victory cigar.

Straight Auerbach-Iian.

It’s still fair to question what SOX has up to because you could say this is “just another” one year contract because of opt-outs. In addition, deferred money may hold the Boston salary lower than things first appear. But you will not hear any negativity from this typist in the wake of this acquisition.

For me it is a clear signal that Red Sox is seriously winning this year. This agreement puts them in the conversation as legitimate challengers for all EAST.

After five years of hearing about “payroll flexibility”, a year of contracts, dumpster dive dive to act/marginal talent, and “baseball players are expensive”, Red Sox behaves again as the big market team we got to know and love when they Won four World Cups between 2004 and 2018.

Soxen is undoubtedly overpaid for Bregman – he is on the books for as much as $ 40 million per day. Season for three years. But the club maintained its sought after flexibility with a structure that allows an opt-out after each season. Sox played the waiting game with Bregman and Agent Scott Boras and it paid off.

Boston was smart to avoid the six- or seven-year-old package they were looking for. Bregman will be 31 in March and his numbers are dipped in recent times. No one would pay him big money in the year 2030.

This step indicates that Sox was serious when team president Sam Kennedy talked about “investing more than we did last year” and “extremely urgent internally.”

There has not been much hope of going into any Boston season since Mookie Betts was traded in a cash-saving feature five years ago. That was when ownership was from free expenses to intermediate market management, giving way to five years of intercourse mediocrity: three last places, last year’s 81-81 record and only an end game October.

After firing President of Baseball Operations 2019 Dave Dombrowski, new chief base ball officers became Chaim Bloom and then Craig Breslow wage list and implemented a long-term recovery plan that focused on draft and development. Boston’s courtyard system was recently ranked No. 1 by Baseball America, but fans have not seen much improvement on the field.

Manager Alex Cora greeted pitchers and prisoners for the club’s first official training Wednesday, but continued to ask questions about gaps in the SOX defense and the lack of right power. Bregman solves these problems. A third Baseman after trade, it is believed that he is moving to the second base, leaving Rafael Dervers on the third.

Cora and Breslow are asked a thousand questions about this agreement and makeup of their team for the next few days, but suddenly there is some excitement over Boston’s Olde Towne team.

Sox improved their pitching this season and added Stud Lefty Starts Garrett Crochet to a rotation that includes Tanner Hooc, Walker Buehler, Lucas Giolito, Brayan Bello and Kutter Crawford. Veterans Liam Hendricks and Aroldis Chapman are added to Bullpen.

Sox has three solid outfielders (Jarren Duran, Wilyer Abreu, Cedanne Rafaela), all of whom are plus defenders. They have three of the top 25 (prospects throughout the baseball in Roman Anthony, Kristian Campbell and Marcelo Mayer.

And now the messy infield has been cut up. Great. Bregman changes everything.

I think I’ve just found out why Alex Cora has been in such a good mood down this week.

Cora knows Bregman. He knows which leader he gets. He knows what an influence player Sox gets.

Same here.

This is a strong move from Red Sox. They have finally rewarded their fans. Like the old days.
