USS Harry S. Truman Carrier collides with commercial ship from Egypt

An American airline company in Navy collided with a trading vessel in the Mediterranean shortly before midnight on Wednesday near a port in Egypt, Navy officials said.

USS HARRY S. TRUMAN, an airline in Nimitz-Class, had worked in Red Sea While being deployed under US Central Command since December 14, which helped launch attacks in Yemen against Houthi militia that have attacked civilian ships and vessels tied to Israel.

There were no reports of flooding or injuries aboard Truman, and the fleet said in a statement on Thursday that the ship’s propulsion systems driven by two aboard nuclear reactors were “unaffected and in a safe and stable state.”

Navy also said the crash was under investigation.

Online Ship Tracking Service Ship Tracker reported that there was no damage to The crew of the advertisement Vessel, Besiktas-M, a bulk bearer built in 2003 and sailed under the Panamanic flag. The ship traveled from the port of Aqaba in Jordan to Constanta, a port city in Romania on the Black Sea.

The collision near Port said in Egypt breaks a seemingly security trim for the US Navy when it comes to crashes with commercial ships. Before Truman’s collision, the most notable recent recent happened in 2017, and they led to an internal calculation. Two such collisions in the Western Pacific killed 17 sailors that year. Navy studies found that they had been “avoidable” caused by herd errors.

These crashes led to a safety mode to all marine ships, and the commander of the seventh fleet in Japan, who oversees navy blue operations between the Indian Ocean and the international data line, was relieved of duty. Navy’s Pacific Fleet Commander chose to retire after the two collisions when he was told he was no longer in line for a promotion.

On June 17 of that year, the USS Fitzgerald ACX crystal hit a 30,000-ton container ship off the coast of Japan, ripping a hole in the hull of the destruction. Seven American sailors died, and the warship commander and performing officer were both fired after an investigation.

A little more than two months later, another destroyed, the USS John S. McCain, Alnic MC, a 600-foot oil tanker, off the Singapore coast stopped through the hull of the warship. Ten naval sailors died when their residential neighborhood was flooded with seawater.

By historical standards has been the marine’s record in recent decades been “extraordinarily good,“According to a 2022 report written by Samuel J. Cox, a retired admiral that leads the history of the navy and cultural heritage command.

And mortal collisions for Navy warships have been relatively rare. In 2004, the USS John F. Kennedy, an airline of a previous design than Truman, collided in the Persian Gulf with a small traditional Arabic sailboat used mainly for transport and fishing. The boat sank immediately and everything on board is believed to be dead. Two war plans on Kennedy were damaged.

USS Greeneville, a Los Angeles class quickly attacked submarine, collided with a Japanese fishing boat, Ehime Maru, off Oahu, Hawaii, in 2021 and killed nine passengers on a fishing boat, including four high school students.

Truman has nine aviation quadrons launched and has been accompanied by a cruiser and two destroyers. Together, Truman Strike Group has recently launched attacks on the Iran-backed Houthi militia, according to Central Command. The US military has carried out a series of strikes on the Houthis, who on Thursday suggested that they continue to attack Israel and ships in the Red Sea if the ceasefire in Gaza fell apart.

The collision Wednesday was the second known major accident in Truman’s current implementation.

On December 22, two F/A-18 Hornet fighters flying from Truman were mistakenly shot down by the USS Gettysburg, the cruiser who accompanied the carrier during an air filling mission.
