Marcus Stroman ends Yankee’s absence in ‘awkward’ trade situation

Tampa – Marcus Stroman’s Holdout is over.

After missing the first two days of training, after the mandatory physical he took Tuesday, Stroman reported back to Yankee’s Camp on Friday at Steinbrenner Field.

He was expected to attend training later in the day for the first time this spring.

Stroman, as Yankees tried to act this season, with the veteran being the projected odd man out of the rotation, had until February 22 to report to Camp under CBA rules.

Yankees -Manager Aaron Boone said on Thursday that he had tried to push the Stroman to be at the camp, but also respected his right not to be here yet.

“Obviously, I want all our players here, clearly,” Boone said on Thursday. “That said, I’m comfortable with where he is physically, mentally. He is a proud player. He is a guy who has had an amazing career. Of course, it’s a bit of an awkward situation. So of course I want him here.

“Trying to continue pushing him to get hit. But you also have to respect the fact that this is something that the players are allowed to do. There is a mandatory date and he is choosing it right now. “
