Plays Brian Robinson Jr. today? Full injury update for Commanders RB in Week 9

Brian Robinson Jr. has emerged as a valuable part of the Washington Commanders offensive strategy this season. The running back provides a physical presence as part of his unique partnership with Austin Ekeler. He also gets the necessary carries after becoming disillusioned under former play-caller Eric Bieniemy.

Robinson’s status for Week 9 was in doubt heading into Washington’s trip to the New York Giants. The former third-round selection has already missed one game throughout the campaign with a knee problem. The authorities took every possible precaution during the week when another complication arose.

The Alabama product became a limited participant in practice with a hamstring problem. Robinson was listed as questionable for the collision, and the Commanders also elevated Chris Rodriguez Jr. to further raise concerns.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport initially provided some additional clarifications that eased fans’ concerns. The insider revealed that the Commanders plan to play Robinson, although they will see how the player feels this morning before making their final decision.

This practice before the match did not go well. Robinson didn’t move too freely and was seen having lengthy discussions with Quinn and running backs coach Anthony Lynn afterward. The player’s post on social media after practice all but confirmed the concerns surrounding his commitment at MetLife Stadium.

Not having Robinson makes life more difficult for the commanders, there’s no getting around that. Elevating Rodriguez was the right call — something that only confirms how this new staff covers every base and leaves absolutely nothing to chance.

Commanders fans can expect to see a committee backfield approach without Robinson. Combine this with the fact that Daniels may still be feeling some ill effects from the rib issue, and the new development is something to watch closely.
