Chargers cut ties with former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver

The Los Angeles Chargers have cut ties with former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick after signing Laviska Shenault to their practice squad. Fitzpatrick signed with the Chargers after the Steelers released him following training camp.

Fitzpatrick was drafted out of Louisville in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans. But his tenure at Tennessee soon turned sour, and the team moved on after just two seasons. That’s when the Steelers signed him to a futures contract after the 2022 season and he earned his way onto the practice squad.

Fitzpatrick would earn his way onto the active roster as a shooting guard. However, he couldn’t keep his spot on the roster this offseason, and the Chargers came in to sign him instead.

The Pontiac, Michigan, native ran a 4.47 40-yard dash and stands at 6-foot-1. As a bigger receiver, he mostly plays outside, but provides plenty of special teams upside that could get him into another locker room before the end of the season.
