Timothée Chalamet visits fans in Minneapolis ahead of Bob Dylan biopic screening

Thee Timothée Chalamet appeared in Minneapolis on Thursday to promote the upcoming Bob Dylan biopic, “A Complete Unknown.”

Chalamet stars as Dylan in the film, which chronicles the iconic singer-songwriter’s rise after moving to New York in 1961. It is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 25.

Fans saw that something might be coming when Chalamet posted a maroon and gold “M” — the unmistakable University of Minnesota logo — on his Instagram story late Wednesday night.

U of M students report receiving direct invitations to a Q&A with the actor Thursday in Minneapolis, with a reception following the screening.

Around 2:37 p.m. Thursday, Chalamet also posted a photo of the Varsity Theater to his Instagram story with text that simply read, “TONITE.” Soon after, fans began posting photos and videos of him around the University of Minnesota campus.

It’s a fitting launch for the film. Bob Dylan took a semester at the U of M before dropping out to become a musician. He started out in the off-campus Dinkytown neighborhood and learned from quiet local legends like ‘Spider’ John Koerner.

Chalamet was spotted in Dylan’s hometown of Hibbing visiting a high school there earlier this year, and recently earned Dylan’s seal of approval for his portrayal.

According to a page with searchlight imagesthere are three other upcoming screenings of “A Complete Unknown” with Chalamet. Others are set for Nashville, Atlanta and Los Angeles.
