Why is the Packers game delayed? Referee injury causes stoppage of TNF

game

Football matches are often delayed due to player injuries.

But on Thursday night during Green Bay Packers-The Detroit Lions game was delayed due to an injury to someone else on the field: a referee.

Referee Carl Johnson was bumped by Packers defensive end Kingsley Enagbare as he walked off the field in the third quarter. Johnson was caught off guard and grabbed his shoulder.

Members of the Packers and Lions training staffs as well as his fellow referees came over to provide assistance.

He was taken to the official’s locker room for examination.
