‘SNL’s Heidi Gardner cheers on the Chiefs in the ‘Sunday Night Football’ Open

It’s a whole weekend on NBC for Saturday Night Live star Heidi Gardner, the latest celeb to appear in a Sunday night football promo.

The Kansas City native hyped up the Chiefs ahead of their hometown game against the Los Angeles Chargers as he belted out Natasha Bedingfield’s ‘Unwritten’ in the network’s opening spot for Sunday’s event.

“Life really is what you make of it, just like being a Chiefs fan,” she said after putting on the vinyl to ‘Unwritten’ by the Grammy nominee.

“You can think of it as completely unpredictable or completely predictable,” Gardner continued. “Unbelievably spectacular or just the same thing over and over and over. I’m talking about winning.”

The campaign featured clips of the Chiefs’ back-to-back wins at Super Bowl LVII and LVIII.

Gardner, who joined the cast SNL in 2017, added as clips of the Chargers played, “Maybe everybody else gets tired of us. But then maybe do something about it. Don’t just say weird things or do weird things or suddenly decide that you have, like, cheats or something just play the game.

“I know it looks easier than it is. And honestly, we like it that way. It seems to confuse everybody, which can be really fun,” Gardner said. “Chiefs and Chargers Sunday night in Kansas City.”

Gardner’s Sunday night football performance comes after Celine Dion, Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Keaton graced previous game openings this season.
