MLB Insider Offers Disheartening Update on Red Sox’s Juan Soto Pursuit

The Boston Red Sox have the true start of their offseason activity awaiting superstar Juan Soto’s free agent decision.

Boston competes with four other teams in the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers. MLB insider Jon Heyman arrived at the winter meetings in Dallas, Texas and offered his latest sentiment based on body language and conversations in the race for Soto.

“The feeling in the lobby, talking to people, the Yankees seem a little more confident than some of the other teams,” Heyman said on “MLB Tonight” Sunday evening. “Boston is a little less confident than some of the other teams. The Mets are kind of in the middle right now.”

While the Red Sox haven’t officially been eliminated by the Soto camp, Heyman certainly sees the most likely scenario as the star staying in New York in some capacity.

“I’d be a little surprised if he doesn’t go to one of the New York teams right now,” Heyman added.
