Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey claims to have the potential to surpass the NFL's longest field goal record

Brandon Aubrey is a superstar in American multi-sport performance, having played for Dallas Cowboysan American National Football League (NFL) franchise, as a placekicker. He has also played professional football with a position of center back. In 2017, Aubrey was drafted by Major League Soccer’s Toronto FC and played with the club’s reserve team before moving on to Bethlehem Steel FC.
Then he switched to American football and played for the Birmingham Stallions in the year 2022 to 2023 in the United States Football League (USFL), after which he was signed by the Cowboys in 2023. Recently, in an interview with Good Morning Football, he was asked. the extent to which Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy could get to him with a kick at the end of the game and he didn’t miss a beat.

Brandon Aubrey says he could break NFL’s longest FG record

Kickers in the National Football League have been remarkably busy this year, except, of course, for future Hall-of-famer Justin Tucker. Kickers have punted from distances that would leave special teams coaches from the 1980s envious. All-Pro Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey made his debut for the Cowboys last year and is now in the NFL after spending time in pro football and the USFL. He’s 10-of-11 on kicks of 50 yards or more, so Aubrey knows he can get even better.
Recently, during an appearance on Good Morning Football, Aubrey was asked how far coach Mike McCarthy would come to him at the end of a game. “I would put it somewhere around 72 yards,” he said.
In his first game in the NFL, Aubrey made both of his field-goal attempts, the longest being 38 yards, and made four of five extra points, the contributions of which were scored in the Cowboys’ 40–0 stomping victory over the New York Giants. In Week 8 against the Los Angeles Rams, Aubrey was involved in 11 points including a 58 yard field goal and earned the title, NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for the effort and also the month of October.
Against the Philadelphia Eagles, Aubrey set a historic record by hitting the 19th attempt, establishing him as the single most consecutive field goals made to kick off a career, surpassing former leader Travis Coons. In Week 14 against the Eagles, Aubrey set an era by becoming the first kicker to kick two field goals from 59+ yards in the same game: “59, 60”. He would then be awarded Player of The Game by Sunday Night Football along with Dak Prescott and Stephon Gilmore. It was his second NFC Special Teams Player of the Week title.

On August 17, 2024, Aubrey unofficially tied the NFL record for longest field goal with a 66-yarder against the Las Vegas Raiders in a preseason Week 2 game. Week 1 of the regular season, Aubrey nearly kicked a 66-yarder again, this time against the Cleveland Browns, which would have officially tied the NFL record, but it didn’t count because of a Cowboys delay-of-game penalty.
Two weeks later, in a Week 3 game against the Baltimore Ravens, Aubrey kicked a 65-yard field goal, making it an official break on Brett Maher‘s record for the longest field goal in Cowboys franchise history and the second-longest in NFL history.
