Police arrest suspect in Que., Ont. and BC in connection with 3 homicides in the Montreal area

Police have arrested five people in Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia in connection with three separate homicides in the Montreal area in the past two years.

Montreal police say the people, ages 26 to 35, were arrested following operations in Montreal, Sherbrooke, Que., Cambridge, Ont., and Kamloops, B.C. Two of the five were already in custody in the Montreal area.

The killings in question took place between June 2023 and May this year.

In June 2023, a 32-year-old man was shot and killed in Charlemagne, northeast of Montreal. Police say the investigation so far suggests the man was a victim of mistaken identity.

On August 7, 2023, a 28-year-old man died of gunshot wounds after he was found unconscious on a sidewalk on Ste-Catherine Street in downtown Montreal.

On May 14, 2024, a man died after being shot on Parc Avenue near Legendre Street in Montreal’s Ahuntsic-Cartierville neighborhood. A month later, Montreal police arrested two suspects in connection with the case, and a third person is still wanted.

Three of the suspects are due to appear in a Montreal courtroom between now and Thursday. Authorities plan to transport the other two suspects to Montreal to face charges.
