Dutch star insists Inter Milan ‘fired up’ for Supercoppa Italiana final against AC Milan: ‘We want to show we’ve grown’ from Serie A loss

Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij says the Nerazzurri are “fired up” for the Supercoppa Italiana final against AC Milan.

The 32-year-old spoke to the Italian TV company SportMediaset, via FCInterNewsprior to the match. He noted that the team wants to show that they have “grown” since losing to the Rossoneri in the league.

Inter and Milan meet in the Supercoppa Italiana final today.

It’s derby and it’s also the first opportunity both teams will have to pick up silverware this season.

Therefore, there is certainly no lack of motivation for either side.

Inter and Milan also met in the 2022 Supercoppa final. The Nerazzurri won that match 3-0, starting a run of six derby wins in a row that saw them knock their city rivals out of the Champions League and win the Serie A title.

The last time the two teams met, however, Milan got revenge. In the first Serie A derby this season, the Rossoneri deservedly won 2-1.

Meanwhile, the Dutchman also looked back on the first derby of the season. He admitted that there is a desire for revenge.

“We had a bad game,” admitted de Vrij. “Milan deserved to win.”

“We want to show that we have grown,” he said of tonight’s rematch with city rivals the Rossoneri.
