Columbia Schools closed Monday due to winter weather

Columbia Public Schools will be closed Monday due to winter weather.

Instead, the district will have an AMI, or alternative education methods, day.

“AMI enables all Columbia Public Schools students to be engaged in learning on inclement weather days when conditions prevent school from being in session,” a note from the district said. “The use of AMI is in response to the new state law requirements and is the alternative learning option to make up the school day at the end of the year.

“Additionally, please note that the AMI offered for inclement weather days differs from what was required during the pandemic. The inclement weather AMI does not include the delivery of new content. The AMI focuses on the review and examination of material that has already is taught and student enrichment opportunities. Computers and the Internet are not required to complete AMI instruction days count toward your student’s class work and participation.”

Further information and answers to frequently asked questions are available at AMI pages on the district website.
