DC, Maryland, Virginia school closings announced for Tuesday – NBC4 Washington

School cancellations for Tuesday are coming in. Public schools in DC, as well as Montgomery, Fairfax, Fauquier and Culpeper counties and Falls Church will be closed for another day, school officials announced.

DC school closings:

DC Public Schools says all schools will be closed Tuesday.

School closings in Maryland on Tuesday, January 7:

Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) in Maryland will be closed again Tuesday. MCPS offices will also be closed and all activities, programs and sports on school grounds will be cancelled. Emergency personnel must report on time. School officials said they are preparing sites to provide emergency aid and will share information about those sites early tomorrow morning. They said they have not yet made any decisions about classes for Wednesday.

Prince George’s County Public Schools will keep its schools and offices closed Tuesday. It will be a Code Yellow day, which means that only emergency personnel will be working.

Charles County Public Schools will be closed again on Tuesday. After school and evening activities will also be cancelled. School officials said there is a code red for staff who follow the code system.

Anne Arundel County Public Schools and offices will be closed without instruction to students. Unit III staff must report to work.

St. Mary’s County Public Schools and offices will be closed Tuesday due to Monday’s snowstorm. No employees are allowed to report to work and administrative leave will be given to 12-month employees.

Virginia school closings Tuesday, January 7:

Arlington Public Schools will close again on Tuesday, as will the APS offices.

Falls Church City Public Schools will remain closed Tuesday, as will their day care centers and administrative offices. All afternoon and evening activities are cancelled. School officials said they expect to share updates about Wednesday at 18.00 Tuesday.

Fairfax County Public Schools and central offices will be closed. Recreational activities, team practices, middle school after-school programs and other programs on school grounds will be cancelled. School Age Child Care (SACC) centers will be closed again and home-based and home-based education will be cancelled. Key personnel should follow the instructions of their managers. Emergency administrative leave is permitted for all other personnel, FCPS officials said.

Fauquier County Public Schools will also remain closed Tuesday, as will their administrative offices. All school activities and events are cancelled. Important personnel must report at

Loudoun County Public Schools will be closed. Its administrative offices will also be closed and all activities on school grounds will be cancelled. The school board’s annual organizational meeting is moved to Thursday, January 9 at 4 p.m., officials said.

Stafford County Public Schools will be closed Tuesday.

School closings in Virginia on Tuesday, January 7 and Wednesday, January 8:

Culpeper County Public Schools (CCPS) had already announced that they will be closed on Tuesday. In an update, CCPS officials announced they are also canceling classes for Wednesday. Wednesday, however, will be a working day for the staff.
