Windy, cold weather coming to Arizona with risk of rain, snow

PHOENIX (AZ family) — A beautiful way to start back at school and work on this first full week of 2025.

Phoenix saw mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 60s, continuing the trend of above-normal highs.

But we expect a change in the weather from Tuesday with windy and cooler conditions and slightly cooler heights for the valley.

Western Arizona will get the brunt of strong gusts with a wind advice and A strong wind warning for parts of Colorado River Valley.

Wind gusts up to 55 mph are possible with this incoming storm in the wind-exposed areas.

Look for gusts in the Phoenix area approaching 20-35 mph late Tuesday night and Wednesday morning as this inland low moves through the region, bringing in a cold front with much cooler air behind it.

As for rain, the interior track of the lowlands will keep our rain chances under 30% if that.

The best chance for measurable rain will be early Wednesday morning in the upwelled areas of the northeast part of the county.

The biggest impact for the valley will be windy and much cooler than what we have experienced in the last two weeks.

The Highlands could see light rain and then snow between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning. Snow levels may drop to 3,500 to 4,000 feet.

Valley highs will drop into the mid-60s on Wednesday and remain in the low to mid-60s through the weekend.

Overnight lows will drop into the 30s to low 40s, with a few outlying areas like Wickenburg and Casa Grande dropping into the upper 20s.

ONE freeze clock has been issued south of the valley for later this week for parts of Pinal and Pima counties.
