Former Brighton striker Glenn Murray on the playing style of Graham Potter, the favorite to replace Julen Lopetegui: “He’s not rigid. He’s not stuck in a system or a style. He’s very fluid and I think we even see that in the game. When I played under him, we changed formations two or three times in a single afternoon , which is quite a skill to be able to make your players understand everything you want from them and be able to change in the game.

“I mean, those changes weren’t made at halftime. He didn’t exactly sit everybody down. It was an instruction from the sideline and lo and behold! We all knew our jobs and how to change that style of play I think is a credit to his managerial skills.

“Graham is a very thoughtful manager. He knows exactly what he wants but he wants feedback from the players. It is a collective rather than a dictatorship. And he’s going to carefully study each and every opponent and he’s going to plan the best way to try to penetrate that opponent, to try to hurt that opponent and obviously win games at the end of the week.”
