Kenneth Fire threatens the western San Fernando Valley, prompting evacuations

The Kenneth fire broke out around 2:40 p.m. along the western edge of the San Fernando Valley and quickly grew to more than 50 acres, prompting mandatory evacuations.

The fire is located in the Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space Preserve and is pushing toward densely populated areas in the towns of Calabasas and Agoura. Oak Park and Thousand Oaks are also potentially in play.

Evacuation orders and warnings have been issued for residents of LA City and County and Ventura County.
