Notre Dame fans threw beer onto the field to protest Orange Bowl DPI calls

Notre Dame fans expressed their anger over a defensive pass interference call during Thursday night’s Orange Bowl by throwing beer onto the field at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.

After Penn State quarterback Drew Allar threw a costly interception during the fourth quarter of the College Football Playoff semifinal, officials waved off Allar’s mistake by flagging Notre Dame safety Adon Shuler for defensive pass interference.

Penn State scored a touchdown shortly after the Shuler penalty.

According to a video from ESPN’s Cameron Wolfe, some Notre Dame fans responded to the big call by throwing beer onto the field.

Throwing beer on the field is not a good way for fans to express their frustration, but that certainly didn’t stop these fans.
