Notre Dame vs. Ohio State Hypothetical Line – Ohio State -7.5
Notre Dame vs. Texas Hypothetical Line – Texas -2.5

Whoever wins on Friday night will be seen as the favorite. An underdog mentality from Notre Dame will surely come roaring into Mercedes-Benz Stadium in just over a week’s time.

Of course, things could change as the Ohio State-Texas game still has to happen. In addition, the line may change during the week as bets are placed throughout the country. But for now, Friday’s winner, whoever it may be, is considered the favorite.

Notre Dame awaits the national championship opponent

Playing on Thursday means Notre Dame can sit back, relax and watch the Cotton Bowl unfold without worry. All eyes in the College Football Playoff world are now on Ohio State and Texas, hoping to become the second team to book a trip to Atlanta.

“Just like first and foremost saying it’s an honor to represent the SEC in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl,” Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian said. “This game has been notorious for great plays and great teams over the years. Obviously, this being a College Football Playoff semifinal game, it’s definitely an honor to be a part of this.”

Ohio State Ryan Day opened his first Cotton Bowl press conference in similar fashion, saying “Honored to be a part of the Cotton Bowl again. Just a great bowl. And I’ve said it many times, the Cotton Bowl does a great job in their hospitality. Everyone people are very proud of the bowl, and it’s a fantastic setting.”
