Netflix top 10 titles for the week of December 30, 2024

It was another green light for that Play octopus Season 2 — the blockbuster Korean drama series maintained its position at the top of Netflix’s top 10 non-English TV list with 58.2 million views for the week, re-entering the top 10 in 93 countries and ranking No. 1 in 91 countries. Creator/director Hwang Dong-hyuk’s series also jumped from no. 7 to no. 2 on the list of most popular non-English language TV shows. In just 11 days, Season 2 of the global phenomenon has amassed 126.2 million views – a Netflix TV record. The audience also kept catching up Play octopus Season 1, with 13.6 million views and a no. 2 position on this week’s non-English TV charts.

The public has outperformed the TSA on “additional screenings” and helped make Hand luggage a runaway hit. Jaume Collet-Serra’s thriller Hand luggage reached new heights and flew into the list of most popular English films at no. 5, with 149.4 million views, less than four weeks after its release. It was also no. 1 for its fourth consecutive week on the English-language film chart with 17.4 million views.

And even after her show-stopping performance on NFL Christmas Gameday, fans continued to tune in to Beyoncé — between the live show and the stand-alone special, Beyoncé toast has now been seen by nearly 50 million people worldwide.

On the English TV list it was a good Harlan Coben New Year for miss you, which made its debut at no. 1 with 21.7 million views and in the top 10 in 89 countries. The adaptation of the bestselling author’s novel is his latest thriller to hit Netflix, with more to come. Also on the list was season 6 of Virgin River (No. 2, 5.2 million views) and Season 1 of Black Pigeons (No. 3, 5 million views).

Meanwhile, hot on Play octopus‘s heels on the non-English TV chart was La Palma (No. 3, 8.3 million views). The disaster series also cracked the most popular non-English TV chart, landing at no. 9. And a new international edition of Love is blind, Love is blind: Germany, entered pods at no. 9, with 1.3 million views.

Tyler Perry’s The six triple eight spent another week at no. 2, with 10.8 million views, and the animated comedy That Christmas closed the festive season at no. 8, with 3.8 million views. Two more 2024 film releases also arrived on this week’s list – Kevin Costner’s Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 (No. 7, 4 million views) and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (No. 9, 3.8 million views).

In a world of non-English language films, Norway’s Number 24 hit in its debut week, landing at no. 1 with 8.8 million views. Next was India’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 (No. 2, 4.2 million views) and Italy’s The love scam (No. 3, 4.2 million views).

Audiences also spent the last week of the holiday catching up with old friends – non-English TV series such as Season 1 of Alice in the Borderlands (#10, 1.2 million views) and non-english movies like Under Paris (No. 8, 1 million views) reappeared on the charts. And on the English TV list, the audience got ready for The night agent Season 2 by rewatching Season 1 (#9, 1.6 million views).
