Aries activates from Injured Reserve and designates John Johnson III to return; place Blake Corum on IR and sign Royce Freeman to practice squad

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. – The Rams activated safety John Johnson III off Injured Reserve (IR) on Tuesday and designated him to return.

He had been on IR since Sept. 18 after suffering a shoulder injury in Week 2 against the Cardinals.

The move uses one of three IR return slots that Los Angeles has in the playoffs. Its one carryover from the regular season carried over, and they gained two more by qualifying for the postseason.

The Rams opened a spot on the 53-man roster by placing running back Blake Corum on IR. Corum suffered a broken forearm in last Sunday’s regular season finale against the Seahawks, which will sideline him for the playoffs.

LA also signed veteran running back Royce Freeman to its practice squad and released safety Quindell Johnson from the practice squad on Tuesday.

Rams-Vikings at SoFi Stadium in the Wild Card round of the playoffs airs at 5pm Pacific next Monday on ESPN and ABC.
