Nintendo Switch 2 accessories from Genki were made based on leaks, not an actual device, company representative confirms

American gaming peripherals manufacturer Genki has been at the center of rumors related to the Nintendo Switch 2 after showing off a mockup of the unannounced console and its accessories at CES 2025. Some of the subsequent news coverage has presented these as being based on an authentic copy of the Nintendo Switch sequel, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

In an interview with Play*KickGenki’s representative confirmed that their Nintendo Switch 2 cover was produced based on leaked information circulating in the industry and that the official size of their product has not been decided yet. They also admitted that they haven’t actually seen Nintendo’s new console.

“Only Nintendo can tell if accessories for the Switch will be compatible with the Switch 2,” Genki commented to Game*Spark, hinting that they don’t have exact information about the console.

Furthermore, Nintendo themselves were quick to address the matter, commenting that the images and videos related to the Switch sequel are not official and that they did not provide Genki with a device.

The Switch’s successor should be officially announced within the current financial year (by the end of March 2025).
