Colonial Pipeline possible gas leak in Paulding County

The company said there were no injuries or evacuations involved.

PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. – Colonial Pipeline said its crews responded Tuesday to a “potential gasoline leak” on their road in Paulding County.

According to the company, there were no immediate injuries or evacuations reported.

They said they have temporarily shut down Route 1 in the area, which is in the 200 block of Peg Cole Bridge Trail in Villa Rica.

Bloomberg described it in a report as the largest fuel pipeline in the United States and it is said to be running from Houston to Greensboro, NC

“Crews are on site coordinating the response and we have made all necessary notifications,” the company said in a statement.

Paulding County School District officials added that it was told it was a “small, isolated leak” by law enforcement and the company. It added that it posed no threat to New Georgia Elementary School, which is less than a mile away.

Paulding County Fire Department PIO Steve Mapes said the department has not been called to assist at this time.

The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office also stated it is not responding and does not believe any areas are being evacuated.

Most gas lines in the county run north-south to the west of Dallas, according to map from the National Pipeline Mapping System or northwest-southeast in the Seven Hills and Burnt Hickory Farms areas.
