Not bad today. SLATE wasn’t great, but it wasn’t terrible. With 60 words left and a green box, I chose Geralt’s horse for my second guess: ROACH cut it down to three, and then I chose another video game – KNACK – for my third and, as it happens, final guess. That was the word! Almost like I have a knack for this game!

Competitive Wordle Score

I get 1 point for guessing three and 0 for tying Bot. I’ll take it!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word “button” derived from the Middle English word crack (14th century), meaning “a sharp sound”. Its meaning evolved to refer to “a clever or deft trick or device” in the 16th century. The term probably has Scandinavian roots, related to Old Norse knackkrmeaning “little hump or projection,” suggesting something distinct or skillfully done.
