‘Severance’ cast promotes Season 2 in character at Grand Central Station

The acclaimed Apple TV+ series implemented an unlikely marketing tactic ahead of its second season – which premieres on Friday, January 17. Series stars Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, Tramell Tillman and Patricia Arquette all reunited as their respective characters Mark Scout, Helly Riggs, Dylan George, Seth Milchick and Harmony Cobel at Grand Central Station on Tuesday, January 14th.

Several social media users have written videos of the rate and documented the cast portraying their characters in their makeshift office space in the middle of the train station.

AppleTV+ also shared a number of photos of the event to the streaming platform’s official Instagram and TikTok accounts.

Along with the cast appearing at the NYC station, series director and executive producer Ben Stiller supported the event. there, The Emmy winner, 59, took photos and videos of the cast in the closed office space while onlookers watched.

Several fans commented on the setup; one wrote: “THIS is great marketing.” Another added, “kinda crazy they got real actors to do this.” One user commented: “Top level marketing. Someone get a promotion. Nope. Not the Severance characters.”

The workplace thriller follows a group of employees who have undergone “severance,” a procedure that separates their work personas (or “innies”) from who they are in the real world (known as their “outies”).

Scott stars as Mark, a Lumon worker who accepts layoffs as a way to deal with the death of his wife. But after the mysterious disappearance of his best friend and former Lumon employee Petey, he teams up with new hire Helly (Lower) and fellow colleagues Dylan and Irving (John Turturro) to uncover the company’s web of conspiracies.

The series also stars Dichen Lachman, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus and Christopher Walken.

The series was renewed for a second season days before the season 1 finale. Since then, more stars have been announced as new cast members, including Gwendoline Christie, Alia Shawkat, Bob Balaban, Merritt Wever, Robby Benson, Stefano Carannante, John Noble and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson.

Scott, 51, has previously credited Stiller’s role in the casting process, telling PEOPLE in April 2024: “One of Ben Stiller’s superpowers, I think, is casting and finding the right people for roles. He’s really, really good at it.” Adds: “Our core cast is already incredible, but we have some amazing people coming to season two that I can’t wait for everyone to see.”

Created and written by Dan Erickson, the series became an instant success with viewers and critics after premiering in April 2022. It received 14 nominations at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards in 2022, winning two awards for main title design and musical score.

Resignation season 2 premieres January 17 on Apple TV+. The remaining nine episodes will air every Friday through March 21.
