This time last year, Jacob Fearnley was ranked no. 646 in the ATP rankings.

He had only competed in one event at the Challenger level.

But on his Australian Open debut, the world number 92 is through to round three.

“The next Andy Murray” someone in the crowd tells him as he goes around to thank his supporters and sign autographs. “I don’t think so,” Fearnley replies.

Next? He looks set to face world number two Alexander Zverev.
