Yes Morant throws down wild one-handed dunk on Victor Wembanyama … it didn’t quite count

Yes Morant threw down what could very well be the best dunk of the season on Wednesday night in San Antonio.

The only problem for the Memphis Grizzlies star, who greatly benefited Victor Wembanyama, was that the dunk didn’t actually count.

Morant drove around the wing and drew a foul late in the fourth quarter of the Grizzlies’ win over the Spurs on Wednesday. Morant drew the foul very clearly while still at the 3-point line, so anything that happened after the whistle didn’t count.

But neither Morant nor Wembanyama stopped. Morant kept charging right to the rim where he ran into the 7-foot-3 star. Expertly, Morant rose and threw down a wild one-handed dunk over an outstretched Wembanyama, which sent the Grizzlies bench into a tailspin.

Just look:

The still image from under the curve is somehow even better than the video.

Morant finished with 21 points and 12 assists in the Grizzlies’ 129-115 win over the Spurs, pushing them to 26-15 on the season. It also marked their ninth haul over Spurs. Desmond Bane added 21 points and Santi Aldama finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds off the bench.

Wembanyama had 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Spurs. Stephon Castle led them with 26 points and Devin Vassell added 21 points. They sit at 19-20 on the year and have lost four of their last five games.

And while it doesn’t technically count in the book, Morant still gets credit for one of the best posters of his career. The two teams will duke it out Friday night at the Frost Bank Center, where he’s sure to give it one more shot before the whistle blows.
