Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan stabbed on suspicion of home invasion

Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan is recovering from surgery after he was stabbed multiple times in a suspected home invasion at his home in Mumbai.

The popular actor, 54, sustained at least six stab wounds, including one near the spine, during what his team described as an attempted robbery in Mumbai’s Bandra area early on Thursday, January 16. ANI news agency.

Dr. Nitin Dange from the Lilavati hospital, where Khan is being treated, told reporters that the actor “suffered a major injury to the thoracic spinal cord due to a knife jammed in the spine,” it reported. BBC.

“An operation was carried out to remove the knife and repair leaking spinal fluid. Two other deep wounds on his left hand and another on his neck were repaired by the plastic surgery team,” added Dange.

Khan’s team told ANI in a statement, “Saif Ali Khan has come out of surgery and is out of danger. He is currently recovering and doctors are monitoring his progress. All family members are safe and police are investigating the incident.”

Mumbai Deputy Commissioner of Police Dixit Gedam said the attack is under investigation and a citywide manhunt is underway.

“One of the accused has been identified but has not yet been caught and has been absconding,” Gedam said, per Sky News. “He entered the house from a fire escape and entered the stairs. We are also looking at others involved in the incident. Our police teams are now across the city of Mumbai and have also gone beyond the city limits.”

Khan is married to a Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor. The couple share two children, Taimur, 8, and Jeh, 4.

“There was an attempted burglary at Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s residence last night. Saif had an injury to his arm, for which he is in hospital, during a procedure. The rest of the family is fine. We request the media and fans to be patient and not speculate further as the police are already conducting their due investigations,” Kapoor’s team said, according to Indian Express.
