Arsenal vs Aston Villa live updates: Watkins goal levels pulsating Premier League clash

56′ Arsenal 2-0 Aston Villa

Another goal from a cross, and another volley!

It was pretty simple, honestly, Arsenal centre-half Gabriel fired it straight to Leandro Trossard on the left wing with Lewis-Skelly in midfield. The hosts wisely isolated Trossard with opposite man Matty Cash, one on one.

Once again Trossard got the better of him, showing great footwork to turn from one side to the other, oblige his man before pushing the ball over him,

He lifted a nicely directed cross into the middle, Villa defenders Konsa and Mings were too deep when it was pulled back and Kai Havertz had too much time and space to swing his leg at it.

It was straight at Martinez, who made contact with the ball but couldn’t keep it out. He might think he could have done better, even though it was close, I suppose. Havertz’s eighth of the season and his first ever against Villa.

Arsenal look very good here and also comfortable in defence.
