Tim Weah scored in Juventus’ win over rivals Milan

USMNT forward Tim Weah came off the bench to score in Juventus’ 2-0 win over Milan and boost his club’s hopes of Champions League qualification.

The 24-year-old scored the second of two goals after the break to secure three points for the hosts in the Italian top flight’s oldest and most played derby.

Weah’s fifth goal in Serie A this season came when the substitute chased down a Khephren Thuram pass on 64 minutes. Weah evaded the attentions of Milan defender Fikayo Tomori and curled a low finish into the far corner.

He had been denied from close range five minutes earlier by Milan goalkeeper Tim Maignan.

Winger Samuel Mbangula had given Juventus the lead shortly before the hour mark.

The win moves Thiago Motta’s side into fourth place, a point ahead of Lazio, who travel to Verona on Sunday.

Milan missed their talismanic American Christian Pulisic at the Allianz Stadium, with the 26-year-old unable to take part due to a calf problem picked up during their win against Como on Tuesday.

However, there was still an American in the Rossoneri ranks, with Yunus Musah starting the match and creating four chances for Milan.

Juventus fielded two USMNT stars for their victory, with Weston McKennie making his 15th league appearance of the season for the Turin outfit.

Milan are now eight and seven points from the top four.
