Run the Louisiana Marathon this weekend

Be prepared to sweat this Saturday, January 18 or Sunday, January 19 at the Louisiana Marathon races.

Be sure to stretch and lace up your running shoes for the Louisiana Marathon, where participants will take on the 16.2 mile trek through the capital. Not feeling like a full marathon? This race weekend also features quarter and half marathons along with a 5K, kids marathon and other festivities.

Attend the Baton Rouge Jewish Film Festival this weekend

Head over to the Manship Theater for the Baton Rouge Jewish Film Festival on Saturday, January 18th and Sunday, January 19th.

The festival, which started on January 15, will show Kidnapped on Saturday, which tells the true story of Edgardo Mortara, a Jewish boy growing up in Bologna who was secretly baptized and kidnapped to be raised Catholic. Watch on Sunday Gentlemen’s Agreementwhich tells the story of a journalist who pretends to be Jewish to write an exposé on anti-Semitism, which complicates his relationship with his fiance.

Kidnapped begins at 7pm on Saturday 18 January. Gentlemen’s Agreement begins at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 19. Tickets costs $14.50 plus fees. The Manship Theater is located at 100 Lafayette St. Find more information about this year’s festival here.


Channel Hollywood headlines the MPAC Gala on Friday

The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge packs on the glitz and glamor for its Music Performance Art Community (MPAC) gala on Friday, January 17.

Get the red carpet ready because this year’s MPAC theme is The Best of Hollywood. Stroll the Walk of Fame, grab bites and drinks, and listen to live music and DJ sets throughout the night. All proceeds from the event benefit the Arts Council and its mission to advance the creative community through advocacy, events, education and more. Check out 225‘s full MPAC preview here.

Meet furry friends on Friday

Head over to Frankie’s Dawg House on Friday, January 17th for a Companion Animal Alliance (CAA) adoption event.

Love adoptable cats and dogs while enjoying some food from Frankie’s. You may even meet a furry friend to take home.

Bring the kids to the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Friday, January 17th for Mike’s Kids Club Day at LSU Gymnastics.

Hello to the LSU Gymnastics team as they compete against Florida. The doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the first 200 Mike’s Kids Club members to attend will receive a pencil bag.
