Dodgers land closer Tanner Scott with 4-year, $72M deal, sources say

Closer Tanner Scott and the Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed to a four-year, $72 million contract, sources told ESPN’s Jeff Passan on Sunday.

It’s the latest offseason splash for the Dodgers, who also signed award-winning Japanese pitching prospect Roki Sasaki, who announced the news on social media Friday.

Scott, 30, was 9-6 with 22 saves and a 1.75 ERA last season for the Miami Marlins and San Diego Padres.

When Scott’s deal is made official, the Dodgers’ 2025 luxury tax payroll will exceed $375 million, which is approximately $70 million more than the next highest team, the Philadelphia Phillies.

The New York Yankees are the only other team with a competitive payroll that is projected to be over $300 million.
