TreVeyon Henderson, Quinshon Judkins Become Third Pair of Ohio State Players to Rush for 1,000 Yards in Same Season

TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins are the third pair of Ohio State players to both rush for 1,000 yards in the same season.

Both of Ohio State’s running backs surpassed the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the season in Monday’s national championship game, becoming the first pair of Buckeyes to both reach quadruple figures in the same season since running back Carlos Hyde ran for 1,521 yards and quarterback Braxton Miller rushed 1,068 yards in 2013.

They are only the second pair of Ohio State running backs to both rush for 1,000 yards in the same season, joining Archie Griffin (1,450) and Pete Johnson (1,059) in 1975.

Henderson and Judkins both entered the national championship game and needed 40 yards or less to reach the 1,000-yard mark. Henderson had rushed for 967 yards and 10 touchdowns on 132 carries and Judkins had rushed for 960 yards and 12 touchdowns on 183 carries.

Henderson hit the 1,000-yard mark by rushing for 37 yards on seven carries in the first half. Judkins reached the milestone on Ohio State’s second play of the second half when he ran for 70 yards, the longest run in CFP title game history.

Henderson has now rushed for 1,000 yards in two different seasons as a Buckeye after previously rushing for 1,255 yards as a freshman in 2021. Judkins has now topped 1,000 yards in all three of his collegiate seasons after rushing for 1,565 yards as a freshman. 2022 and 1,158 yards as a sophomore in 2023 at Ole Miss.
