Drayk Bowen forces a much-needed fumble deep in Ohio State territory

When Notre Dame needed it most, Notre Dame linebacker Drayk Bowen came through.

Ohio State looked like it was about to deliver the killer blow early in the 4th quarter against Notre Dame. Instead, disaster struck when Bowen chopped the arm of Ohio State WR Emeka Egbuka during a big play for the Buckeyes.

Down by 16 points and just over 13 minutes left on the clock, the game was all but over if Notre Dame didn’t make a play when it did. Funnily enough, Kirk Herbstreit just finished a thought about how Notre Dame needed a turnover or the game could be over. Ohio State had not fumbled the ball since their regular season game against Penn State.

Here’s a look at the key play by Drayk Bowen:

The thing is, Notre Dame had to score for this fumble to matter. And unfortunately, Notre Dame Kicker Mitch Jeter kicked the ensuing field goal just over the crossbar. The ball is still deep in Notre Dame territory, but the Irish would need a miracle to come back with just under 10 minutes left in the game.

Notre Dame needs a miracle. Can the Irish get one?
