Weather-related delays, cancellations in the Tri-State on January 21, 2025

The following cancellations and delays have been announced for Tuesday 21 January 2025 due to inclement weather.

Postponements and cancellations

  • Citywide Hagerstown trash and recycling collection normally picked up Monday to Friday will be delayed one day this week. For example, normal Monday collection will be Tuesday etc.
  • Greencastle-Antrim (Pa.) School District will operate with a two-hour delay on Tuesday. Please encourage children to dress warmly and consider driving students to bus stops or to school to prevent extended time outside.
  • Waynesboro Area (Pa.) School District will operate with a two-hour delay Tuesday due to ice on the secondary roads.
  • Chambersburg Area (Pa.) School District opens with a two-hour delay on Tuesday.
  • Tuscarora (Pa.) School District schools and offices will operate on a two-hour delay on Tuesday. Alert
  • Truth Christian Academy is closed on Tuesdays.
  • Frederick (Md.) Community College will have a delayed opening with classes resuming at 11 Tuesday. Note any commuting issues with the manager. Students can check Blackboard or email for instructor information.
  • Frederick (Md.) Public Schools opens two hours late on Tuesday. The offices open on time. Morning PreK* and the Career and Technology Center (CTC) start two hours late and dismiss one hour later than usual. PM PreK* starts one hour later than normal and departs at normal time. The PM CTC starts 40 minutes later than normal and departs at the normal time. All staff should also report a 2-hour delay. *Except at FCPS charter schools where pre-K classes are canceled.
  • Saint Joseph School in Martinsburg, W.Va. is closed Tuesday due to hazardous road conditions. K-8 students must log into Google Classroom to receive assignments.
  • Berkeley County (W.Va.) Schools will be closed Tuesday. Evening activities are cancelled. This is the first of five distance learning days. Students have received instructions to connect and stay on track.
  • Jefferson County (W.Va.) Schools and offices will be closed Tuesday due to road conditions and expected temperatures. This will be a non-traditional teaching day for students and all staff will work remotely. Essential personnel should contact their supervisor to schedule. All events, activities and exercises are also cancelled.
  • Morgan County (W.Va.) Schools will be closed Tuesday. Employees follow reporting code A.
  • Blue Ridge Community and Technical College on-campus activities and classes for all BRCTC locations will be remote Tuesday. Distance working/online teaching continues as planned. Students should check email and Blackboard for all classes. Critical operations report to supervisor.

Washington County Public Schools was already scheduled to be closed to students Tuesday due to a professional development day for staff, according to school system website.

Previous notices of postponement and cancellation

  • The Keedysville Historical Society meeting with author Richard Cook, originally scheduled for Jan. 20, has been moved to 6 p.m. 19 on Monday 17 February in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 53 N. Main St.
