Trump sued over DOGE’s cost-cutting efforts by Government Worker Union

A union representing hundreds of thousands of federal employees sued the Trump administration over its signature cost-cutting efforts led by billionaire Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamysetting off a high-stakes legal battle over the new president’s plans to dramatically cut government spending.

The lawsuit from the American Federation of Government Employees and the government watchdog groups Public Citizen and State Democracy Defenders Fund was one of three suits filed when Trump was sworn in on Monday challenging the “Department of Government Efficiency,” or DOGE. The AFGE suit claims the initiative violates a 1972 U.S. law that requires conflict-of-interest checks, ideological balance and transparency for groups with a direct line to the White House.
