ONE rare winter storm over northern Florida and the Panhandle causing record snowfall in Pensacola, Florida. The National Weather Service does not yet have an official measurement of snowfall amounts, but meteorologist David Eversole said they have received unofficial reports of as much as 5.5 inches from Escambia County.

The official record for all-time snowfall in the Pensacola area is 3 inches set in 1895.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issued a state of emergency on Sunday, January 19 ahead of what some forecasters have said has the potential to be one of the worst storms in Gulf Coast history.

Some forecasters predict Tallahassee could see record snowfall as well.
