Seven people taken to hospital after deliberate fire in Aberdeen tower

Seven people have been taken to hospital after a deliberate fire at a tower block in Aberdeen.

Emergency services were called to the 12th floor of Aulton Court, a 19-storey building on Seaton Crescent, at around 8pm on Monday after the alarm was raised.

The SFRS said five appliances responded to the incident and extinguished the fire before leaving the area at around 10am.

Seven ambulances and two special operations teams were sent to the scene and seven patients were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Their relationship is currently unknown.

Police Scotland said they are treating the wire as intentional and investigations are ongoing.

A spokesman said: “At around 8.05pm on Monday 20 January 2025, police received a report of a fire in a block of flats at Aulton Court, Seaton Crescent, Aberdeen.

“Emergency services attended and the fire was extinguished.

“The fire is being treated as intentional and investigations are ongoing.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We were alerted at 7.58pm on Monday January 20 to reports of a fire alarm being activated at Aulton Court, Seaton Crescent, Aberdeen.

“Operations Control mobilized five appliances to the scene and firefighters extinguished a fire which affected the common area on the 12th floor of a 19-storey tower block of flats.

“Seven casualties were sent to the Scottish Ambulance Service. Crews left the scene at 10.10pm after ensuring the area was made safe”.

Scottish Ambulance Service added: “We received a call at 8.17pm on Monday January 20 to attend an incident on Seaton Crescent, Aberdeen.

“We sent seven ambulances and two special operations response teams (SORT) to the scene. We transported seven patients to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.”
