Pregnant Michelle Keegan’s Brassic AXED after seven seasons on screens despite rave reviews in crushing blow to fans

Michelle Keegan’s Brassic has been axed after seven seasons of raucous fun.

The popular comedy drama hit our screens on Sky One back in 2019.

Brassic has now had six successful series and fans will be sad to know that it will not be returning for its seventh.

Co-creator and writer Danny Brocklehurst: ‘When Joe Gilgun and I sat down to create Brassic, we couldn’t have imagined in our wildest dreams that we would do seven series and gather such a loyal and loving fan base.

‘It’s been an absolute pleasure to create this eccentric world, but all good things must come to an end and we want to stop while we’re still riding high.

“Maybe they can finally give us that BAFTA.”

Brassic’s blend of slapstick comedy and farcical action sequences has cemented it as one of the country’s favorite modern comedies.

A Sky spokesperson said of the show’s end: ‘Fans very quickly became attached to this dynamic group of friends as they found unconventional ways to cope with life in the northern suburbs.

“We’d like to thank Joe Gilgun, Danny Brocklehurst and the entire cast and crew – past and present – for bringing us all a truly iconic series that we’ve come to love for its special blend of hilarity and heart.”

David Livingstone, founder of production company Calamity Films, added: ‘Somehow some crazy stories and a bucket full of truth, combined with an amazingly talented cast, have created the most loyal fan base you could ever hope for.

“From Joe Gilgun’s unconventional imagination to Danny Brocklehurst’s brilliant writing, it’s all been a blast. This farewell series is for the fans.’

Leading man and producer Joseph Gilgun has been outspoken about ensuring the show is a warm and sympathetic portrayal of working-class life and friendship.

The news comes with filming already underway for series seven, with pregnant Michelle Keegan recently seen hiding her growing baby bump with a stylish blue and white check coat.

The actress, 37, shared the happy news that she was expecting her first child with husband Mark Wright, 38, in December.

Former Coronation Street star Michelle wrapped up warmly in the chic coat as she linked arms with a member of the crew.

Michelle appeared to go through a full day of filming the seventh series of her Sky One show.

She was joined by her co-star Ryan Sampson, who plays Tommo, in the series.

The actress styled her brunette locks in a high ponytail while donning her on-screen character’s signature hoop earrings.

Brassic follows the lives of a group of friends in a fictional town called Hawley, led by Joe’s character Vinnie and featuring single mother Erin, played by Michelle.

The show has been on Sky since 2019, but the first four series also debuted on Netflix in August and were a huge success.

Michelle and Mark are reportedly the target of their own fly-on-the-wall series, which will document their journey into parenthood.

A source said The sun: ‘Michelle and Mark are such a TV power couple and becoming parents is huge for them. A couple of production companies are writing proposals to see if they would let cameras in to follow them becoming parents.’

‘These fly-on-the-wall shows are huge on ITV, as well as streamers like Prime, and there’s a huge audience that would love an insight into Michelle and Mark’s world.’

“It’s all just in the planning stages and no formal approaches have been made, but the offers are close to being done.”
