Fire damages vacant quadplex in Amarillo, no injuries reported

A vacant quadplex in Amarillo was damaged by fire Wednesday night.

The Amarillo Fire Department responded to a structure fire in a vacant quadplex at 803 South Madison Street at 9:43 p.m. and saw heavy fire originating from the rear corner of the building.

Crews conducted a transition attack and primary searches of all units in the structure. The fire was contained to the original building and extensive inspections were carried out to remedy the smoke and fire conditions in the attic.

No residents were found during the searches.

No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.

Estimated losses include $30,000 in property damage and $5,000 in contents loss.

The AFD Fire Marshal’s office responded to the scene and the fire remains under investigation.
