It didn’t take long for Al Golden, reportedly the Cincinnati Bengals’ new defensive coordinator, to begin shaping the personnel he will be working with.

Jerry Montgomery, most recently of the New England Patriots, will also reportedly join the Bengals as defensive line coach after serving the Patriots in the same capacity. In the collegiate ranks, Montgomery has held various jobs at Oklahoma, Michigan, Indiana, Iowa, Wyoming and Northern Iowa.

Citing a source, Athletics’ Paul Dehner Jr. was the first to report Montgomery’s hiring by Cincinnati.

The 45-year-old Montgomery has been in a defensive-line coaching position in the college or professional ranks since 2007, including a nine-season run with the Green Bay Packers from 2015-2023.

The Bengals Chief of Staff, Trey Brown, could be on the way

According to multiple reports Wednesday, Bengals Senior Personnel Executive Trey Brown will have another interview for a general manager position.

Brown will take another interview with the New York Jets to fill their vacant GM position, the reports said.

Brown joined the Bengals in his current role in 2021.

Asker will update this report.
