IIT Madras students and faculty get free access to Perplexity Pro services

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras students along with their faculty to get free access to Preplexity Pro services. Perplexity Pro is its premium subscription product, carefully designed to take search to the next level with some advanced features and options.

Aravind Srinivas, founder and CEO of Perplexity AI, announced that the search engine startup has provided free access to Perplexity Pro for all students, faculty and staff of IIT Madras.

“Taking to his official account on X (formerly Twitter), Aravind Srinivas said: ‘We have given free Perplexity Pro to all students, faculty and staff at IIT Madras where I did my undergrad. Super excited to start there, as we begin our expansion into Indian campuses.”

Perplexity Pro is the premium plan of the platform that has been carefully designed to make your search more powerful through various advanced features and options.

On Tuesday, the Perplexity company launched an API service called Sonar, which now allows companies and software developers to integrate the innovation of a special AI search tool into their applications.

In a recent blog post, Perplexity pointed out that current generative AI capabilities mostly rely on the training data alone for answers, and that real-time internet connectivity with access to trusted sources is a must to make API responses the most accurate and trustworthy .

Perplexity now offers two tiers for developers to choose from: a more affordable and faster option, Sonar, as well as a premium option, Sonar Pro, for more complex queries. Through its Sonar API, the AI ​​search engine in Perplexity enables businesses and developers to customize the data sources used by its AI search engine.
