49ers news: Robert Saleh could return thanks to Trent Baalke & Liam Coen

Wednesday a report appeared that says f. New York Jets head coach and San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh was seen as the potential favorite to land Jacksonville Jaguars Head Trainer Job. That news led us into the rabbit hole and to another former 49ers defensive coordinator.

Thursday afternoon there was a not so unexpected twist. After getting rid of General Manager Trent Baalke, the candidates were suddenly interested in the vacant head coach of Jacksonville.

It tweeted several national journalists Tampa Bay Buccaneers Offensive coordinator Liam Coen, who on Wednesday rejected Jaguars to stay on as an offensive coordinator at Buccaneers, re -considered his decision when Baalke was released.

The NFL Networks Ian Rapoport said that while Coen and Bucs agreed to an extension, the contract was never signed. Thus, there was no binding agreement between both parties. Two days later, Coen is in the building and talks to Jaguars’ brasser about their head coach job again and the front runner for the job.

This is where it becomes one he said, she said, and the information gets sloppy. Athletics Dianna Russini Tweeted that several text messages and phone calls were made to Coen, and Tampa Bay has not heard a pip from Coen. Espns Adam Schafter Tweeted That Coen said he reached out to Buccaneers’ head coach Todd Bowls to inform him of his interest and will interview Jaguars.

We see a reality TV section in real time. It is not surprising that the Jaguares leaned against an offensive mind. They paid Trevor Lawrence $ 275 million. You are unlikely to surround your main investment in your franchise with a defensive head coach.

But, not unlike the 49s, the Jaguaries seemed to be surprised when Coen rejected them. Now the 49ers could be the advantage that Coen put his foot down by not wanting to work with baalke.

The 49s are not out of the woods yet. Saleh interviewed with Dallas Cowboys Last week. According to Clarence HillDallas is ready to hire Brian Schottenheimer, and Josina Andersen followed up by saying that other candidates are not expected to have their second conversation.

The Las Vegas Raiders The job is still open and Saleh was also interviewed there. It would be something if the 49ers defensive coordinator comes down to who Raiders don’t hire as their head coach.
