Red Wings quarter-century team announced

The NHL announces the quarter-century teams for all 32 teams daily. Today they revealed the red wings two teams. The first team forwards were Pavel Datsyuk, Steve Yzerman and Henrik Zetterberg, the defense was Niklas Kronwall and Nicklas Lidstrom and the goalie was Chris Osgood. The second team forwards are Sergei Fedorov, Dylan Larkin and Brendan Shanahan, on defense it’s Chris Chelios and Brian Rafalski, and finally the goaltender is Dominik Hasek.

First team

Pavel Datsyuk

The Red Wings drafted Datsyuk 171st overall in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. He spent all 14 seasons of his NHL career in Detroit playing in 953 games recording 918 points on 314 goals and 604 assists. He was a two-time Stanley Cup champion, a four-time Lady Byng Memorial Trophy winner and a three-time Selke Trophy winner.

Steve Yzerman

Detroit drafted Yzerman fourth overall in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft. He spent all 22 seasons in Detroit and played in 1,514 career games recording 1,755 points on 692 goals and 1,063 assists. Yzerman won three Stanley Cups, the Ted Lindsey Award once (it was named the Masteron Award then), a Selke Award, a Masteron Award, and he also won a Conn Smythe.

Henrik Zetterberg

The Red Wings selected Zetterberg with the 210th overall pick in the 1999 NHL Post Draft. He spent all 15 seasons with Detroit, playing in 1,082 games. Zetterberg recorded 960 points on 337 goals and 623 assists. He won a Stanley Cup and a Clancy Memorial Trophy, and he also won a Conn Smythe.

Niklas Kronwall

Detroit selected Kronwall 29th overall in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. He also spent his entire career in Detroit playing 15 seasons. He played in 953 games recording 432 points on 83 goals and 349 assists. Kronwall won a Stanley Cup.

Nicklas Lidstrom

The Wings drafted Lidstrom 53rd overall in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft. He spent all 20 seasons in Detroit and played 1,564 games. He recorded 1,142 points on 264 goals and 878 assists. Lidstrom won four Stanley Cups, seven Norris Trophies and one Conn Smythe.

Chris Osgood

Detroit drafted Osgood with the 54th overall pick in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. He spent 14 of his 17 seasons in Detroit, appearing in 565 games. He went 317-149-75 with a .905 save percentage and a 2.49 goals against average. He was a three-time Stanley Cup champion and took home two Jennings trophies.

Second team

Sergei Fedorov

The Red Wings selected Fedorov 74th overall in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft. He spent 13 of his 18 seasons in Detroit and played in 908 games. He recorded 954 points as a red wing on 400 goals and 554 assists. Fedorov won three Stanley Cups, two Selke Awards, A Hart Trophy and a Ted Lindsay Award (it was named the Pearson Award at the time).

Dylan Larkin

The Red Wings drafted Larkin 15th overall in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. He is currently in his tenth season all together with Detroit. In 699 career games, Larkin has recorded 549 points on 232 goals and 317 assists; Tonight will be his 700th career game.

Brendan Shanahan

Detroit traded for Shanahan on October 9, 1996. Shanahan spent nine seasons with Detroit, appearing in 716 games. He recorded 633 points on 309 goals and 324 assists as a Red Wing. He won three Stanley Cups and won a Clancy Memorial Trophy.

Chris Chelios

The Red Wings acquired Chelios on March 23, 1999. He spent ten seasons as a Red Wing, appearing in 578 games. He recorded 158 points on 21 goals and 131 assists. Chelios won two Stanley Cups and a Messier Leadership Award.

Brian Rafalski

Rafalski signed with Detroit on July 1, 2007. He spent four seasons in Detroit appearing in 292 games. He recorded 204 points on 35 goals and 169 assists. Rafalski won a Stanley Cup in his first season with Detroit.

Dominik Hasek

Hasek signed with the Red Wings on July 31, 2006. With the Four Seasons in Detroit, he appeared in 176 games. He went 114-39-19 with a .911 save percentage and a 2.13 goals against average. He won two Stanley Cups and a Jennings Trophy.
