Washington Capitals had a late against Seattle Kraken on the tap for us on Thursday night. The winner of Matchup would go up 4-3 in the two teams matchup all-time.

Aliaksei Protas fought for the capitals of the lead in the second period. Ethen Frank doubled the leader and ended his own rebound on an interruption. Alex Ovechkin removed the empty nets to seal the deal.

Capitals beat Kraken 3-0!

  • The capitals really got hot out in the first period and played some of their best hockey I’ve seen in a few weeks. They jumped all over Seattle for the first 5-8 minutes, but really slowed down to the middle part of the opening frame. They then took it right back for another few minutes and then slowed down again to end the period. However, they still locked their own zone down, even in the poor stages of the period. Good to see.
  • Martin Feherwary had a goal taken by the board because Nic Dowd was offside on a zoning input. Not only did I get annoyed by DOWD unnecessarily to enter the zone early, but Seattle just feels right for a Marty party. The guy loves to fish. He is perhaps the most “Seattle” in the current capitals.
  • When we talk about capitals and Seattle it is good to see Other BurakovskyAt Chandler Stephensonand Philipp Grubauer. Their contribution to the Stanley Cup 2018 is forever etched in Lore of DC Sports.

  • Absolutely phenomenal the second period as the capitals dominated all facets of the play on five-to-five. Seattle did not have a shot on the target in the frame until over 15 minutes of it had already passed. All four lines and all three defensive couples entered the action.
  • Aliaksei Protas scored his 20th goal of the season to set Washington up 1-0. Protas is a 20-goal scorer for the first time in his NHL career and also hit the 40-point Plateau. If Pierre-Luc Dubois is not found this season, I think Big Pro is the team’s MVP ahead.
  • Hard to see Feherwary go down after taking that puck in the face. He leaked pretty badly on the ice and went straight down the tunnel. However, the Slovak blueliner returned in the third period.
  • Ethen Frank Used these rockets in his skates again to create a exclaiming chance and his third NHL goal. Per Tarik El-BashirSince Frank debuted in the NHL, he has been the leading goal of the leading goal scorer with three goals in seven games.

  • Charlie Lindgren returned to Washington’s curl and was spectacular. The team in front of him was excellent, but he still had to make his reasonable share of big stops. Shutout is Chuckie’s first since a 16-gem performance against Boston Bruins on April 15 last season.
  • Alex Ovechkin Potted his 22th goal in the season in an empty cage. He is just 19 goals that are shy to tie Wayne Gretzky for the goal of all time.
  • What about these movements behind the net from Jakob Chychrun Late in regulation? Dipsy doo how are you.
  • Climate Pant Arena is at the top of my list to visit. Seems like a really cool place to take in a game.

The capitals continue their road trip towards Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night. Will JT Miller still be a canuck before then? We’ll see.
