Stadium Condition Concern: Celtic Release Friday Statement

Tomorrow’s Premiership clash between Celtic and Dundee could be under threat after severe weather swept across Scotland, leaving uncertainty over the condition of Celtic Park.

The club confirmed today that security and stadium staff have been unable to carry out a full assessment of the stadium due to the ongoing extreme conditions. As a result, no decision has been made on whether the match will go ahead as planned.

In a statement released this evening, Celtic explained: “Unfortunately today’s severe weather conditions have caused some damage at Celtic Park. Our stadium and security staff are currently unable to fully assess the extent of the damage due to the ongoing extreme conditions. In light of this and in order to communicate fully and openly with our fans, in the interests of supporter safety, we are unable to confirm at this stage whether tomorrow’s game between Celtic and Dundee will be able to go ahead. “

The club assured fans that every effort will be made to ensure the match can take place, but a final decision will now be made tomorrow morning following a full inspection of the stadium.

Today’s stormy conditions have caused widespread disruption across Scotland with schools, rail services and businesses forced to close.

The timing of the upset is unfortunate as Celtic look set to continue their strong form at the top of the table. On the other hand, Dundee will be hoping the game continues as they aim to test themselves against the league leaders.

Supporters are advised to keep an eye on official club channels for updates with a decision expected early tomorrow. At the moment, all eyes are on the weather and the safety checks required to determine if the game can continue safely.
