Trump Crashes Lin-Manuel Miranda’s ‘Hamilton’ Reprise in ‘Snl’ Cold Open: ‘Sniffing Distance from an Egot’

Tonight’s episode of “Saturday Night Live” Started with a few surprises: first, a trip back in time to the signing of the Declaration of Independence and second, a cameo appearance from Lin-Manuel Miranda as Alexander Hamilton. However, the “Hamilton” creator’s triumphant reprise of his Broadway role was quickly interrupted by “SNL” cast member James Austin Johnson’s return as President Trump.

“In America we want leaders, but know one thing: In America we will never have a king!” Miranda sang, only for Johnson’s Trump to slide into the frame and proclaim, “Never say never! Kidding, of course, although in many ways I’m not. I am in my kingly era, but like the founding fathers, I am also creating a new country. And like them, we do it very white! “

Johnson’s Trump continued to boast about all of his many accomplishments in his first week back as president — all while Miranda had to remain frozen in place behind him. “He’s within earshot of an egot, and he’s going to stand there until I’m done,” Johnson’s commander noted with a smirk.
