Daniel Jeremiah NFL Mock Draft 1.0: Giants Nab QB1 with third total choice

New York Giants Chief Priority for the 2025 season is the Quarterback position.

From Saturday, January 25, 2025, Giants do not have a quarterback under contract for 2025. Drew Lock and Tim Boyle are free agents, while Tommy Devito is an exclusive rights -free agent (efra). It is hardly a formality to sign Devito, but it is still that he is not under contract from this writing.

So the giants who are overall priority must be to fill the quarterback position. Ideally, they would do it with a player who is – or could be – a franchise -quarterback, in the draft.

That’s exactly what former NFL Scout and NFL Network Draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah does in his mock draft 1.0.

3. New York Giants – Cam Ward, QB, Miami

Giants are desperate for a quarterback. Ward’s strong arm and playmaking ability would be a good fit.

Raptor’s thoughts

Right now, it seems that it would be a big coup for Giants to land Cam Ward at the top of the draft. Ward had a star season in 2024, which led FBS in passers -by touchdowns with 39 (to only 7 captures). He led ACC in adjusted yards per day. Trials as well as yards per Completion, and he also ended 15. In Big Time Throw* Rate and 5. In Deep Yards (per PFF).

(*PFF defines “Big Time Throw” as being either deep or tight window targets in situations with high leverage that require excellent ball placement and timing?

Ward rarely has arm talent with an extremely elastic arm that allows him to make almost any throw from almost any arm column and platform. He is able to create off-plan and out of structure while having the field vision to find open recipients when the piece dissolves in chaos.

This willingness to go on a big play hunting sometimes got him into trouble, but that is also why Miami was even in the conversation to college -football play. He is also a very athletic quarterback that played in a wing-T overpowering in high school and had to learn to be a passerby during his college career.

Ward is currently my QB1 (I’m starting this year’s deep dive after the senior bowl) and it was reinforced by the development he showed throughout the year. Most notably, he showed an increased willingness to take small winnings and find his checkdowns as the year progressed.

Personally, I have questions about whether Sandeur Sanders fits what Brian Daboll will do with the offense.

However, Ward seems to fit like a glove.

It is not exactly remarkable that Giants go quarterback in the first round. It would almost be more remarkable if they did not consider the state of the position and value of 5. -Year. Although choosing a quarterback if CAM WARD and Shedeur Sanders are away from the board could also cause some trades to maximize the value of Jalen Milroe or Jaxson Dart.

And that brings me to what is really interesting at DJ’s first mock draft: neither Tennessee Titans Not either Cleveland Browns Choose a quarterback. Both teams are almost Then quarterback needle as the giants, though it “almost“Gives them opportunities. Here Jeremiah has them to explore these other options.

It makes me ask “Why?”

He is a deeply connected guy thanks to his previous career as a college scout, and my gut says DJ hears things from around the league. He’s hanging a lantern on Titan’s president of football operations Chad Brinker says “The team Would not pass on a generational talent With the first choice, ”is something we should not ignore. Likewise, Jeremiah said he sees the titans adding a quarterback in free agency or later in the draft.

Giants 45-33 victory over Indianapolis Colts Felt for the whole world like a pyrrish victory. They had a big victory and it showed the potential of the offense when things click, but by doing it they probably cost one piece that the offense needs to shoot at all cylinders.

But if Jeremiah is right, QB1 may not be out of reach for Giants.
