As he held in true to a campaign promise, President Donald Trump on Thursday ordered the release of the remaining classified documents about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in the center of Dallas.

The Executive Order signed Thursday Also orders the release of documents around the murder of Senator Robert F. Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

When is the JFK files released?

What we know:

The order signed by Trump does not make these items available right away, instead orders the director of National Intelligence to present a plan within 15 days of the “full and complete” release of items.

The order gives the director 45 days to review items related to Robert F. Kennedy and King and present a plan for their releases.

This is not the first time Trump has ordered items being released.

What we don’t know:

While the executive order sets a tough time limit for the creation of a plan to release the remaining documents, it does not provide guidance on when these documents will be released.

The content of the remaining documents is also unknown, as well as the amount of editorial that these documents will contain.

The Associated Press reports that a few thousand documents still need to be defined. Experts do not think these documents will contain new, earthquake details.

What they say:

While the release of the remaining documents will make historians and conspiracy theorists happy, the former president’s grandson called the move a “political prop.”

“The truth is very tricked than the myth – a tragedy that didn’t have to happen. Not part of an inevitable magnificent scheme,” said JFK’s grandson Jack Schlossberg on social media platform X. “Declassification uses JFK as a political prop when he is not Here to beat back.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., son of the deceased Senator and Trump’s nominated health and human services, the press told the order was a “big move” on the part of the president. He believes that the move will bring “more transparency” and it shows that Trump “keeps his promise to get the government to tell the truth to the American people about everything.” Kennedy has called for answers about his father and uncle’s assault, According to Fox News.

After the signing of the executive order, Trump handed the pen he used to a helper who was told to give the pen to Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.

King’s family released a statement on social media that they hoped to review the files as a family before their public release.

“For us, the murder of our father is a deeply personal family loss that we have endured for the past 56 years,” the family said. “We hope to have the opportunity to review the files as a family before its public release.”

John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992

During his first period, President Trump ordered the posts to be released under John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992.

In 1992, Congress adopted President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act. The law ordered the archives to disclose all information collected – approx. 5 million pages of material – about the murder within 25 years – with the exception of exceptions appointed by the president.

Trump promised to defeat and release all the documents collected with minimal editors.

Instead, a few thousand documents were detained during his first period. In 2018, the president said the remaining documented potential to cause harm to national security, law enforcement or foreign affairs outweighs public interest.

Another batch of documents was Published in 2021 By President Joe Biden. Documents were also released in 2022 and 2023.
